I grew up in a family owned business. Sunday dinners, holidays and after school we were talking about business. I grew to love that! So, when the opportunity came to own The Optical Shoppe I jumped in with both feet! It is the perfect marriage of my love for fashion, business and professional expertise.

I also grew up in many curling rinks, sports arenas and virtually at any venue that was hosting an event or fundraiser. Our family seemed to volunteer for everything! That taught me what it means to give back and be part of something bigger than myself. Being a business owner in Regina, the community I have always called home, means everything to me. The Optical Shoppe was founded by Thel Bannatyne 35 years ago. Thel was a step ahead of her time stating that “glasses are the most important item you wear”. We could not agree with her more.

I might never admit to the total number of cocktail dresses I have but I do commit to provide you with exceptional customer service, quality lens selection and an eyewear selection that is always fresh, fashionable and forward thinking – and, in business I just can’t think of anything better than that.

With more than 30 years in the insurance industry and government, Sherry Wolf brings a broad wealth of experience and leadership to the Globe Theatre Board. Prior to her retirement, she held C level positions at Saskatchewan Government Insurance in Claims, the AutoFund and Human Resources. She also lead a communications team and was executive co sponsor of a large IT redevelopment project.

While at SGI, she was a board member and president of a national government transportation committee, and on the board of the Insurance Corporation of Prince Edward Island and Coachman Insurance.

Born and raised in Regina, Sherry holds a Business Administration Degree, with a major in Human Resources, as well as a Masters in Public Administration, both degrees from the University of Regina. 

Involvement in the community has always been important to Sherry. She has been a member of the Regina Planning Commission, the Regina Arts Commission, and the Regina Festival Funding Committee. Currently, she is an active member of the Grandmothers for Grandmothers Regina, a local group dedicated to fundraising for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. She also chairs and is a member of Affinity Credit Union’s south district council. Prior to Covid she was a volunteer at the MacKenzie Art Gallery and is currently a member of the Regina Art Gallery.

When not busy with volunteer activities, Sherry enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandson, her husband and two dogs. She also likes to pursue her own creative endeavors. She and her husband, Ian have travelled extensively and look forward to returning to that interest.

Born in Winnipeg, Jocelyne worked her way up in the department store side of retail services. She built and managed teams while providing outstanding customer service. Jocelyne always brings a big picture aptitude and an ability to help and motivate others.

As an Associate Advisor with Sun Life since 2005, Jocelyne is a  strong relationship builder. She and her husband and partner, Murray, own FieldView Financial Service Inc.

She is a dedicated and committed community volunteer and currently serves on the Globe Theatre Board of Directors.

Wes Pearce has spent most of his life working and living on the lands of Treaty 4 and owes much to the past, present, and future stewards of this land.  He is currently a Professor in the Theatre Department at the University of Regina where he teaches classes in scenography, Canadian drama and pop culture.  He has designed elements for over twenty productions at the Globe Theatre including last season's The Birds and The Bees. Other design credits include Persephone Theatre, Alberta Theatre Projects, Western Canada Theatre, Prairie Theatre Exchange and Stage West - Calgary. He has also served on the boards of Saskatchewan Drama Association, AIDS Programs South Saskatchewan, Associated Designers of Canada and the Canadian Association for Theatre Research. One of his first theatre memories was sitting in the balcony of the Centre of the Arts for a production of Oklahoma! that starred Sherv Shragge as Curly.

Oye is a member of leadership team at TD Canada Trust in Saskatchewan where he leads change and implement strategies to better customer experience and and foster team growth. 

Before joining TD, Oye worked and Scotiabank in Regina as financial advisor and investment consultant, merging his passion with purpose to help families and individuals achieve their financial goals with ease. 

Oye has a Masters degree in Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. He enjoys teaching teenagers about finances and helping members his community cope and thrive in the workplace. 

Oye lives in Regina with his family. He is excited to be a part of the Globe to add diverse views and ideas that will elevate the great experiences that the organization provides to people in the community. 

Elizabeth is a retired lawyer.  She spent her working career with Saskatchewan Government Insurance where she provided legal advice and direction to SGI’s executive management.  She filled the role of SGI’s Legislative Advisor and Chief Privacy Officer.

Elizabeth currently volunteers on the Catholic Family Services Board and is excited to join the Globe Theatre Board.

Samantha (Sam) Bancescu is a Senior Financial Performance Analyst at Conexus Credit Union in Regina. She works within a team that provides financial analysis, budget, and forecasting information to the Credit Union and its members. Prior to Conexus, she worked as a Senior Accountant at MNP LLP where she created and audit financial statements and prepared tax returns for clients of various sizes. Sam also obtained her Charter Professional Accountant (CPA) designation during that time.

Sam is an avid swimmer and has spent her life in and around the water. She was a competitive swimmer up to and into university and worked as a lifeguard and swimming instructor. She still finds time to teach swimming lessons in the evenings and on weekends. Sam is excited to jump in and work with Globe to create a fun, safe, and creative space for patrons to come and celebrate the Globe Theatre.

Istvan Samayoa is a seasoned Senior Manager at KPMG LLP’s Regina office, bringing a wealth of experience in the fields of audit, assurance, and advisory services for both public and private entities. This experience spans a variety of industries including banking, insurance, owner-managed business, and non-profit organizations. Istvan has focused his career on innovation, leveraging his expertise in data and analytics to find creative solutions that can take advantage of todays’ technological landscape. He is a CPA, CIA and holds his Master of Science in Accounting with Cognitive Analytics.

Istvan has always loved live theatre and enjoys telling others that he won his high school’s grade 9 drama award. His favourite show of all time is Waitress, and was lucky enough to see it live while Sara Bareilles played the lead. However, he also holds a soft spot for the off-Broadway show Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.

He is excited about the Globe Theatre’s future and the creative artistic platform it offers in enriching Regina’s cultural landscape. 

Sam was born in Treaty 1 territory but grew up and has spent much of her life and career in Treaty 4 territory. Sam holds a BFA in Film & Video and a minor in philosophy, a certificate in Public Relations, and is trained in Organizational Innovation, transformation and design-thinking. In her spare time, Sam reads, writes, provides script analysis for emerging film artists, and is a jury head for the Yorkton Film Festival.

After a brief stint in the film and television industry, her career grew to what is now 15 years in creative communications and strategy. She has written and creative directed award-winning mass media campaigns for some of Saskatchewan’s largest brands, and written and creative directed more than 60 broadcast spots and webseries', some with upwards of 30 million organic views.

As a creative strategy and innovation consultant, Sam has helped clients tell compelling stories, and identified business solutions in unconventional ways. This path has led to her current role as CEO of the RCMP Heritage Centre where she is leading the organization toward becoming Canada’s newest National Museum through a vision of being a place of discovery and exploration, reflection and reconciliation.

Sam believes in the soul affirming power of art, and is honoured to support the Globe Theatre and the meaningful role it plays in our community. 

Kayla Klassen is a leader at SaskPower and is responsible for managing SaskPower’s Environmental Performance & Reporting team. She’s an Environmental Engineer and her team delivers emissions quantification, development of emission reduction targets, environmental performance measurement and a diverse portfolio of environmental reporting.  Another interesting part of her work is that she manages a greenhouse located in Estevan that is owned by SaskPower that annually distributes tree seedlings across the province of Saskatchewan.

Outside of her professional career, Kayla lives in Regina with her husband and two children (ages 6 and 4). She grew up in the performing arts community while being classically trained in ballet. Kayla continued her passion by teaching dance for over 8 years. She actively participates in her children’s activities including hockey, music and dance and has enjoyed becoming involved once again in the dance community as a parent of a young dancer.

For Kayla, being part of the Globe Theatre Board of Directors combines elements from her professional career and personal interest in the performing arts. She is excited to positively contribute to this unique staple in the performing arts community in Saskatchewan.

Peter Mayne is the Vice President, Strategy at Conexus Credit Union in Regina. He works closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board at Conexus to ensure the credit union continues to transform and remain relevant to its members in a rapidly evolving industry.

Prior to joining Conexus, Peter’s career spanned roles in leadership, culture and employee engagement at Farm Credit Canada, and in organizational communications and journalism.

Peter has a master’s degree in leadership from the Levene School of Business. He is still actively involved with the school, mentoring and coaching teams in the JDC West Business School competition.

Peter lives in Regina with his wife Karen. He is excited to help guide the Globe Theatre’s revitalization, given its contribution to quality of life in Southern Saskatchewan, and its role as a centerpiece for downtown Regina.

Kallie Wood is the President and CEO of the National Circle for Indigenous Agriculture and Food (NCIAF) and is a proud member of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation located on Treaty Four Territory in Saskatchewan. Kallie was formerly the Senior Indigenous Advisor for the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of Saskatchewan. She holds a Master of Leadership and Management Studies degree and is a mother to four beautiful children and kokum to four grandchildren. As a foster parent, Kallie has many children who call her mom.

Kallie has her feet planted firmly on Mother Earth and realizes that the Creator has blessed us with the gift of each day. She is a life-long learner with 35-years of experience in leadership roles with experience in organizational change, strategic planning, and program delivery with extensive experience in relationship building, reconciliation, and education. Kallie also sits on several Board of Governors across the nation, sharing a voice for Indigenous engagement and building relationships.

Having grown up in a small community surrounded by friends and family in agriculture, Kallie is excited about the journey in supporting First Nation, Inuit, and Métis peoples in sustainable agriculture and food opportunities through listening, learning, and implementing change. Bringing together voices and a community of partners through the sharing of agriculture practices and business knowledge from Indigenous leaders, geographical, intergenerational, and industry-wide representation to support business creation, advance capacity building through education and training, and connect Indigenous Peoples to valuable networks, resources, and funding opportunities while honoring their tradition, lands, and Mother Earth is a recipe for success in economic growth for the good of all.

Kallie has received numerous awards for her time commitment to reconciliation, most recently awarded as one of the twenty-two most empowered and influential women internationally in 2023. She is a recognized and sought-after keynote speaker and Indigenous Advisor on Indigenous issues. She is a recognized advocate, researcher, and transformational change leader driven by harnessing the intrinsic value of every voice that fosters deeper conversations and a sense of belonging and appreciation in many contexts globally. She has a palpable ability to inspire and ignite a brighter future through Indigenous histories, stories, ways of knowing and being towards a better future for our children, grandchildren, and those not yet born.
