Yvette (Algonquin) is a director, playwright and dramaturg. Born in Prince Albert, raised in Winnipeg, she has worked and lived all over Turtle Island. Her works include the plays The Unplugging, The Birds, The Diviners (with Vern Thiessen), the dance-opera Bearing, the libretto Shawnadithit. Recent directing projects include Mizushōbai by Julie Tamiko Manning (Tableau d’Hôte), The Flood  by Leah-Simone Bowen (Imago), both in Montreal, and The First Stone by Donna-Michelle St. Bernard (New Harlem and GCTC) in Toronto and Ottawa. She co-created with Joel Bernbaum and Lancelot Knight the verbatim play Reasonable Doubt, about relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in Saskatchewan. From 2003-2011, she served as the Artistic Director of Native Earth Performing Arts. She is a member of the wâhkôhtowin project, which strives to make theatre that recognizes that we are all connected, all related.
