Shawn is based in Toronto. Costumes for Arsenic and Old Lace marks her first time designing at the Globe. Shawn’s work has been seen across Canada and internationally. Recent work includes set & costume design for Casey & Diana, The Lehman Trilogy, (Belfry Theatre), The Turn of the Screw (Pacific Opera), The Goat (Stratford), Playing Shylock (Canadian Stage/Starvox), Between Breaths (Artistic Fraud), set design for Come From Away (Gander), and costume design for You Always (Canadian Stage). Upcoming projects include set & costume design for True West (Theatre Calgary), set design for La Traviata (Vancouver Opera, Pacific Opera) and a remount of the site-specific project The 52 (Toronto Museum/Luminato Festival, co-created with Arsenic and Old Lace director Evalyn Parry). She has designed for Mirvish Productions, Soulpepper, Signal Theatre, Blyth Festival, Factory Theatre, Tarragon Theatre, National Arts Centre and others. She is Professor Emeritus of York University’s Department of Theatre and Performance.
