Hailing from Toronto originally, Mateo has made a name for himself as a multi-hyphenate artist in both the Canadian and NYC theatre scenes. As a performer, Mateo appeared in Million Dollar Quartet (Arts Club Vancouver) and Forever Plaid (Starvox Entertainment) before moving to the “other side of the table.”  Composer / Lyricist credits include Tommy Rhodes (2024 Toronto World Premiere), The Opening (2024 Dramatists’ Guild NYC reading), and Glass House, a new musical from Nick Flatto, a producer of Operation Mincemeat.  Music Direction credits include Bubble Babz (2022 Toronto Fringe Festival), Rooted (2024 Toronto Fringe Festival) and Brown Eyes (2024 workshop). He also runs the Music Theatre Theory YouTube Channel, where he analyzes the music theory behind his favourite showtunes.
