Kris Alvarez is a Treaty 4 Filipina theatre artist who enjoys a big laugh and a good cry. 

Kris makes art like an 80’s mom makes a trip to the beach- in a flowered kerchief, driving a two-toned station wagon, blaring her favorite mixtape, inviting old & new friends along the way singing, “Jump in the back! No seatbelts but great snacks. Dunno when we will get there. Enjoy the scenery. You’re in good company”   

Besides gathering people and making art inspired from living here, as a daughter-sister-Tita-parent-partner, Kris makes space for being herself, daydreaming and rest.   

Kris gratefully works in Saskatchewan as a creator (Banana Musik, Burnt Sienna Blvd, Golden Potluck),  

an Artistic Associate (Curtain Razors), dramaturg-playwright(Sum Theatre 2024), collaborator (Homebuddies, Prague Quadrennial 2023), and as a performer (Bad Blood, Carmen Angel –Joey Tremblay / Reasonable Doubt, Bright Half Life -Persephone / Making Spirits Bright, Peter Pan, Steel Magnolias -Globe Theatre) 

Kris is lucky to make relationships while making art (Fadadance, Artesian, Common Weal, Dunlop Art Gallery, So.Glad Arts, Kyuubi Culture, YWCA, PAVED, Mann Art Gallery, Prism Project)
