Kris Alvarez
Kris Alvarez is a Treaty 4 Filipina theatre artist who enjoys a big laugh, and a good cry.
Kris makes art like an 80’s mom makes a trip to the beach- in a flowered kerchief, driving a
two-toned station wagon, blaring her favorite mixtape, inviting new & old friends along the way.
“Jump in the back! There are no seatbelts but there are great snacks. Dunno when we will get
there.” Besides gathering people, as a daughter-sister-Tita-mom-wife, Kris makes space for being
herself with her family, daydreaming and rest.
Kris is lucky to work in Saskatchewan as a creator (Burnt Sienna Blvd, Golden Potluck), an
Artistic Associate (Curtain Razors), playwright (Sum Theatre 2024), collaborator (Homebuddies,
Prague Quadrennial 2023), and performer (Bad Blood, Carmen Angel – Joey Tremblay /
Reasonable Doubt, Bright Half Life -Persephone)
Previously at Globe: Making Spirits Bright (2021, 2022), Making Spirits Brighter (2023), Peter
Pan (2024)
Upcoming: Banana Musik – new work by Kris with her parents who “exist as themselves”
onstage during this play about memory, aging, and care.
