Jean van der Merwe is a queer, non-binary singer/actor/clown based in Winnipeg on Treaty 1 territory. Whether it’s their home-town of North Battleford, or their new home in Winnipeg, Jean takes pride in their prairie roots. They have performed on stages across Winnipeg, Saskatchewan and beyond; most recently as Franz in Rock of Ages (Rainbow Stage). Jean is thrilled to be making their Globe Theatre debut, and would like to thank their parents, partner, and chosen family for all their unwavering support. When not performing, Jean can be found playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends, cuddling with their cat Lilith, or watering their house-plants (of which they have far too many).
