Driven by a deep commitment to the primacy of sound in creative expression, Debashis Sinha’s credits include works for contemporary dance, video, film and theatre with many of Canada’s premiere stage companies. This includes longstanding artistic relationships with Peggy Baker Dance Projects, the Stratford Festival, Soulpepper Theatre Company, and others. He is a winner of multiple awards and nominations for his work on theatre stages in Canada, including a 2022 Dora Award for Outstanding Achievement in Design (Opera category), and is a 2024 finalist for the Siminovitch Prize. He has appeared live and conducted research residencies at MUTEK Japan, NeurIPS, the Guelph Jazz Festival, the Banff Centre, ISEA, Akademie der Künste, EMS Stockholm and others, and he has released music on the Gustaff, Other People, Archipel and Establishment labels. Sinha is currently an assistant professor attached to The School of Performance at The Creative School, Toronto Metropolitan University.
