Catherine Hahn - Headshot

Catherine Hahn

Costume Designer
Steel Magnolias

Catherine has been designing sets and costumes, masks and pageants, parade costumes and

floats, for theatre, dance, film, television, multi-media projects and international expos for over

50 years. She has garnered Dora, Jessie and Gemini nominations for her work as well asobscure letters of commendation, laughable remuneration and most serious and meaningful,

membership in an extraordinary national community. Catherine began her eclectic artistic

career studying drawing and painting and sculpture at the Ontario College of Art in the

tumultuous 60s and it was a serendipitous meeting in the 70s with a renegade English director

in Vancouver and their mutual interest in Brecht that launched Catherine’s career in theatre. It

led to a ten year stint designing and touring with the Caravan Stage company, devising and

creating the seminal first Farm Show– The Last Wild Horse-and ultimately a 25 year

association with the Caravan Farm Theatre under the artistic direction of Jennifer Brewin and

Estelle Shook. Halcyon Days! Too many collaborators to mention, but a highlight for sure was

The Hobbit, here at the Globe. catherinehahn.com
