Making Spirits Bright

Two short Stories By Thomas King and W.O. Mitchell adapted for the stage

Back by popular demand after a sold-out run, Globe Theatre is proud to present the second annual production of Making Spirits Bright, a show that celebrates holiday merrymaking set against the backdrop of an old-fashioned live radio play. We invite you to bring the whole family to cozy up together and make Making Spirits Bright part of your annual family tradition.

The Artesian Hall is transformed into a holiday greeting card setting the stage for an evening of wintery storytelling and music making. The show begins with a rendition of Thomas King’s popular story, A Coyote Solstice Tale. It is a sweet, heartfelt, and comedic journey that follows Coyote’s path to goodwill by way of a shopping plaza and an unexpected guest.

Continuing the night’s storytelling is A Voice for Christmas by W.O. Mitchell. Set in the 1940’s, the kid has one Christmas wish – to talk to his father who is overseas at war. A sudden blizzard is no match for the fierce determination of a community committed to bringing father and child together. This is a timeless Saskatchewan tale of family, friendship, and perseverance during the darkest times of the year.
