The Globe Theatre is grateful for the leadership shown by City Councillors in voting to support our grant request for $1.38 million. This funding directly supports the capital project and historic renovations of the 68,000 square foot heritage building – now named MacCorquodale Place. 

The fundraising gap escalated due to the pressures of the Covid-19 pandemic and restoration of a heritage building. This City of Regina funding is part of a multi-track approach to closing this gap which includes 

• securement of $2.4 million in additional private donations; 
• and work with Federal Infrastructure, Culture, and Finance Ministries to secure $12 million.

The Globe Theatre has been experiencing excellent seasons of theatre since returning to the building in November 2024. 

• The 2024/25 season saw 34,000 patrons return downtown to experience live theatre. 
• In 2025/26 that number grew to 50,000! 
• These numbers are incredible and represent a huge boom to Regina’s tourism, with 28% of those patrons travelling from out of town. 

 The Globe Theatre is a non-profit charity and the only permanent theatre-in-the-round in the country. 

• The Globe runs a year-round theatre school – Boquist Theatre School, in addition to their mainstage season. 
• The Globe generates almost 85% of their revenue through ticket sales, sponsorship, donations, and rentals. The other 15% comes from annual operating grants. 
• This is a sustainable model that has been working for over 60 years. 

This one-time, capital investment from The City of Regina secures the Globe Theatre’s future and contributes to keeping Regina a vibrant and liveable city full of sports, arts, entertainment, and culture.

The City of Regina has shown great vision and investment in the future of a livable vibrant city. The Globe Theatre helps bring to life the City of Regina’s Strategic Priorities from their 2026 – 2029 Strategic Plan. While contributing to each of the four pillars, Infrastructure, Vibrancy, Livability, and Prosperity – the outcome of Vibrancy truly captures The Globe’s contributions to downtown, “Places, spaces and programs enabling community connection, city pride and well-being.” 

The Globe is still actively fundraising and welcomes all donations. Naming rights on select assets are still available (beginning at $1,500).
