Job Description & Summary
The Globe Theatre’s mission is to entertain, educate and engage in the art of professional theatre through producing high quality performances, providing theatre education and serving as a valuable part of the Regina community. The Development Manager will be particularly linked to that mission- ensuring that stakeholder communication and administrative practices are focused through the lens of our mission.
The Development Manager will support the Director of Engagement across all aspects of fundraising, stewardship, grant writing, and revenue diversifications. They are responsible for the day-to-day management of fundraising revenue, implementation, research, stewardship, and donor fulfillment. They will manage the department timelines and deliverables and work closely with the Director of Engagement on donor and community relationship building and management. They will take and file meeting notes, manage spreadsheets and databases, copy edit and proof digital and physical donor materials, and track communications. They will work closely with our Accounting Clerk, Director of Sales & Patron Services, and Development & Community Engagement Administrator, and Communications Manager.
The Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining good relationships with prospective donors and clients across multiple sectors, updating databases, spearheading stewardship & fulfillment, and ensuring deadlines are met. They will also work with the Director Engagement on programming fundraising events and managing the administrative aspects of this work.
You will need the following skills to be successful: time management, oral and written communication, scheduling, discretion, spreadsheet and database proficiency, interpersonal skills, and creativity. Additionally, you should possess: a passion for non-profits/the arts, attention to detail, best practices donor communications, a desire to work in a collaborative environment, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
This job requires some evening and weekend work with schedules fluctuating around showtimes and events. It is a requirement that you see every show in our season, and it is encouraged to see the productions multiple times.
Roles & Responsibilities
Internal
- Using Asana to build project plans, assign tasks, and manage project status
- Copy writing for internal messaging around donor policies, procedures and handbooks
- Create strategic plans for fundraising projects and manage the timelines and deadlines for approval processes with the Director of Engagement, AD and ED
- Further establish transparent communication practices with donors, sponsors, and funders
- Manage the departmental yearly calendar and monitor benchmarks and KPIs to keep our fundraising on track
- Updating prospect and active sponsor spreadsheets; tracking sponsorship pitches; delivering packages and coordinating sponsorship blitzes
- Content generation for development department
- Updating KPI spreadsheet monthly with agreed upon metrics
Operational Fundraising
- Assist the Director of Engagement in grant writing for operational funding
- Update key tracking devices for operational funding partnerships
- Manage donor and sponsor fulfillment
- Write, proof, and edit proposals for funding or sponsorships for season programming and performances
- Prepare weekly reporting metrics including revenue pacing slides to report to your supervisor and inform the team about marketing and fundraising updates
- Manage day-to-day stewardship processes for all operational donors
- Manage all operational fundraising announcements or stewardship events
- Write and manage the sending/receiving of agreements for sponsorship
- Track all prospects, pending proposals, and agreements
- Managing the share drive organization
- Manage the gathering of prospective donor information and researching potential funding opportunities
- Manage calendar of deliverables deadlines for operational and capital grants
- Manage information gathering and creating follow up reports for operational and capital donors
- Assist the Director of Engagement as needed with items such as email management, drafting corporate proposals, board reports and overall organization
- Manage stewardship program tracking and keeping department teammates on track to complete tasks
Capital Fundraising
- Manage fund generation and research
- Research and set up meetings with potential donors and corporations; be tenacious with your requests.
- Oversee the stewardship processes for all capital donors
- Oversee all tracking devices for capital funding partnerships
- Manage capital fundraising campaigns
- Manage any campaign announcements or stewardship events
- Manage donor agreement creation
Competencies
- Strong oral and written skills with experience in copy writing
- Proven ability to write, proofread, review, and edit communications
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of digital communications
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong presentation skills and ability to tell a meaningful story
- Relationship building and stewardship

Additional Information
- Working Conditions: This role will be a full-time permanent salaried position and will require some weekend and evening work. Work weeks are based off a 35-hour week, and with any overtime banked. Vacation time is accrued and can be taken throughout the year with prior approval.
- Salary Range: $50,000 to $55,000 per year based on experience, paid bi-weekly.
- Benefits: After an initial 3-month probationary period employees will be eligible to join Globe Theatre’s comprehensive healthcare benefits program, and after 6-months join the group RRSP plan with employer matching. Globe Theatre also offers a hybrid work-from-home policy, dog-friendly office, monthly cell phone stipend, and complimentary tickets to all productions. Please note that parking is not provided for Globe Theatre employees. Bicycles can be brought into the building and secured, and multiple forms of public transit are easily accessible nearby.
