This is a co-production between Alberta Theatre Projects (Calgary, AB) and The Globe Theatre (Regina, SK). Work at The Globe Theatre will be contracted as a Revival. Equity and PACT are currently in arbitration regarding the application of Joint Production and Revival contracts.

Evil Dead The Musical takes all the elements of the cult classic films The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 and combines them for one of the craziest, funniest, and bloodiest theatrical experiences of all time.

Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods, and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It’s all up to Ash (a housewares employee, turned demon-killing hero), and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons tell bad jokes… and all to music. The songs in the show are completely off the wall as well. Titles like “All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Kandarian Demons” and “What the F**k was That?” have had audiences rolling in their seats, and screaming for more and more blood.

Artists will be engaged under a standard CTA contract for work in Calgary, and a revival contract for work in Regina.

*Rehearsals are Tuesday through Sunday. Monday is the day off.

We’re summoning fearless, high-energy, and delightfully off-the-rails performers to dive headfirst into the blood-soaked chaos of Evil Dead: The Musical.
If you thrive on big laughs, bigger screams, and aren’t afraid to embrace the ridiculous (and the possibly radioactive fake blood), this is your moment. Bring the camp, bring the chaos, and show us just how far you’re willing to go.
Please list all roles you’re interested in from the character breakdown, along with any rehearsal conflicts you may have.
Selected Artists will be asked prepare 1–2 short comedic musical theatre selections that highlight your range, timing, personality and pop belt. One selection may be from the show. Bold choices are encouraged — the stranger, the better. We’re not looking for safe… we’re looking for unforgettable.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

ASH
(Male-Presenting, 20 – 35, Tenor/High Baritone)
Our hero — a sarcastic, confident, sometimes clueless S-Mart employee who becomes the ultimate Deadite slayer. Strong comedic timing, physical energy, and a solid vocal foundation with belt capabilities.

CHERYL
(Female-Presenting, 20 – 35, Mezzo/Soprano)
Ash’s sister — bookish, awkward, and the first to be possessed. A comedic powerhouse who transforms from timid to terrifying. MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH PHYSICAL COMEDY/MOVEMENT/CHOREOGRAPHY AND CHARACTER VOICES.

LINDA
(Female-Presenting, 20 – 35, Mezzo-Soprano)
Ash’s sweet girlfriend with a big heart (and an even bigger scream). Romantic and playful — until things go undead. Needs great chemistry with Ash and strong vocal chops.

SCOTT
(Male-Presenting, 20 – 35, Tenor)
Ash’s best friend — the loudmouth, macho comic relief who thinks he’s the hero… until he’s not. Great for someone with confidence, charisma, and killer comedic instincts.

ANNIE
(Female-Presenting, 20 – 35, Soprano with belt)
A determined archaeologist and scholar who knows way too much about ancient evil. Intelligent, fierce, and just as ready to fight as Ash. A strong leading lady with great comedic presence.

ED
(Male-Presenting, 20 – 35, Baritone/Tenor)
Annie’s mild-mannered boyfriend who gets a little too close to the book of the dead. Must balance sweet and sinister — strong comedic EXPRESSIVE actor as most of the show he is kept from talking because of Annie.

JAKE
(Male-Presenting, 30 – 65, Baritone)
A rough, rugged local who knows his way around the woods. Think country tough guy with a golden heart (and a short fuse). Comic timing essential.

Accessibility: The audition, rehearsal, and performance spaces for this production are located within the Globe Theatre at McCorquodale Place and are accessible via elevators.
The Scarth Street entrance (the front doors of McCorquodale Place) is fully accessible and does not require staff assistance. It features a properly graded ramp and automatic doors operated by a push-button. Conversely, the Eleventh Avenue entrance requires a key fob for entry and is accessible only by four steps.

While all interior doorways are manually operated, assistance is available as needed. Regarding our facilities:
▪ Dressing Rooms: Two fully accessible dressing rooms are available for the Mainstage, and two for the Black Box space.
▪ Control Booths: The Mainstage booth is fully accessible; the Black Box booth will be made accessible via a personal lift in the near future.
