Shumiatcher Sandbox Series

Invisible Atom

Created and Performed by Anthony Black

Sep 22, 2010 – Sep 26, 2010

Globe Theatre acknowledges Drs. Morris & Jacqui Shumiatcher for their generous donation, which enables the bold, imaginative traditions of the series to grow and develop.

What goes up must come down. But first, it must stop moving. Only for a moment. That moment between your inhale and exhale. That moment when breath and time and motion may as well not exist.

This is the moment when we meet Atom, a man whose upward mobility has at last caught up with him. Atom has no time, but a lot on his mind. Over the course of his not-so-ordinary life, he has become aware of the impending collision between the theories of economics and the realities of physics. Or is it the realities of economics and the theories of physics? No matter. As a stockbroker and 21st century success story, Atom knows the two can’t co-exist in our world for much longer. There is going to be a reckoning. Now Atom has a family, a lucrative job, and a really nice couch. And he’s afraid.

You will not want to miss this riveting one-man production by Halifax’s 2b theatre. Using only a four-by-four platform, needle-precise lighting, and spellbinding storytelling, Anthony Black will take you on a completely unprecedented and unpredictable exploration of the forces shaping our existence and our destinies.
