Shumiatcher Sandbox Series
A Watched Pot Never Boyles
Written and performed by Arlen Konopaki & Amy Shostak
Globe Theatre acknowledges Drs. Morris & Jacqui Shumiatcher for their generous donation, which enables the bold, imaginative traditions of the series to grow and develop.
Walter Boyle is a down-and-out lawyer and disgraced surgeon, homeless and without hope. Ester Horse is a failed actress, her dreams laying in pieces around her. When chance brings them together in the Big City, they swear eternal love. And now, one thing is for sure: for better or worse, the romantic comedy will never be the same.
A Watched Pot Never Boyles, featuring Edmonton improv duo Arlen Konopaki and Amy Shostak, is a boy-meets/gets/loses/finds-girl story turned on its head with deliciously dark humour, and lots of it. With a relentless pace that no love story has a right to, Konopaki and Shostak bring on a deluge of wordplay, farce, slapstick and satire that will leave you fighting for breath so that you can laugh some more.
You won’t want to miss the irreverent comedy that has consistently attracted rave reviews since its debut in Edmonton’s 2007 NextFest. Bring your partner. Bring your ex. Bring your partner’s ex. It’s going to be that kind of night.
