Death and the Maiden
By Ariel Dorfman
Directed by Floyd Favel
Torture, guilt, revenge. What a wonderful way to spend an evening with someone special.
Imagine you lived in a country where people were routinely kidnapped, raped and tortured. For Paulina Salas, it’s a past that she has all but forgotten, until her husband arrives home late one night with a stranger. Paulina recognizes the voice of the stranger as her torturer from years ago. Her body quakes as her worst nightmare becomes reality and she must decide what to do – pretend it never happened or confront the truth. Can revenge be the best medicine for a damaged soul?
Tense, powerful, and thought provoking. You’ll be thinking about this play well after you’ve left the theatre.
