Lend Me a Tenor
By Ken Ludwig
Directed by Gerald Lenton-Young
Globe’s season opener begins on a comical note – get it? Ha!
It’s the biggest night in the history of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company. World famous Italian tenor Tito Morelli, known to his fans as “Il Stupendo” is scheduled to sing the title role in Otello as part of a $50,000 fundraiser. But it appears the tenor has plans of his own. The show must go on – at all costs.
Expect a three-ring circus of chaos, mayhem and general tomfoolery as these outrageous characters attempt to resolve a case of mistaken identity in this farce-de-résistance – made even more fun when it’s “in-the-round”!
