Whether you are looking to come out of your shell or continue the path of a theatre artist, the Globe Theatre School has a class for you. Our teen classes focus in on specific performance and creation skills, designed to strengthen teens' ability to express, imagine, and create.

NEW!  Scripted

Ages 16-19 years

Students approach text, character development, and physicality in the context of professional theatre practices as local writer/actor/director Greg Ochitwa guides them through the process of bringing a script to stage. This intensive course is intended for mature young people with prior training in theatre.

The program will culminate with performances during the premiere of the Globe Theatre School's LAUNCH Youth Performance Festival.

Improvisation: Level I 

Ages 13 - 15

Improvisation teaches its students to trust their ideas, to be bold in their expression, and to commit themselves to the moment. Students of Level I will dive into the basics of improvisation alongside a local professional improviser. Topics will include organic story development, bold characters, and strong offers. This class is designed for students with less than two years of or no improv experience.

90 minutes/week for 12 weeks

Improvisation: Level II 

Ages 14-17

Students of Level II will study improvisation from an advanced perspective. Topics will include shortform improv, gameplay, and technical scene and story structure.

This class is designed for students with 1-2 years’ experience in improvisation.

90 minutes/week for 12 weeks

Ages 16-19

Students of Level III will study improvisation from a professional perspective.  Classes will include analysis of longform structures, workshops with visiting artists, discussion of advanced theory, and other selected topics.  This class is designed for senior students with at least three years of background in improvisation.

90 minutes/week for 12 weeks

Teen Acting Workshop 

Ages 13 - 15 years

This program takes students through acting fundamentals under the direction of industry professionals.  Topics include voice, choral speaking, text and text analysis, the discipline of acting, improvisation, movement and physical theatre.

NEW!   Improv for ASD 

Ages 13-15

Students learn improvisation acting techniques in a fun and supportive environment. Classes focus on development of self-confidence, communication and social skills, context awareness, creativity, relating and connection. For those who have social challenges, including persons with Asperger's, or mild-moderate autism.

90 minutes/week for 12 weeks

For students who have shown particular commitment to and aptitude for the performing arts. Through this intensive ensemble based program, young artists are immersed in the theatre creation process, building an original piece of theatre and performing it for a public audience.

*NOTE: Participants must have previous experience in the performing arts.

120 minutes/week for 24 weeks

Globe Youth Company

Ages 17-18
By Invitation Only

This invitation-based ensemble is for students who have participated in senior level Globe Theatre School programming and show a particular commitment to and aptitude for the performing arts. Through this intensive ensemble based program, young artists are introduced to challenging new forms of creation and offered unique professional workshop opportunities. Students develop an original piece of theatre and perform in the Theatre School’s LAUNCH Festival in Spring 2017.

Cancellation Policy

100% refund up to 14 days before class begins. 50% refund 14 days or less before class begins. No refund will be given from the first day of class except for medical reason, and only with a doctor's certificate. 

Globe Theatre School reserves the right to cancel any program with insufficient enrolment. In that event, full refunds will be provided or we will try to place the student in another class.
