Assistant Directing Program
Applications for the 2013-14 Assistant Directing Program are now being accepted.
Please send a letter of interest and resume to Ruth Smillie, Artistic Director/CEO at ruths@globetheatrelive.com
Overseen by Artistic Director Ruth Smillie, the Globe Theatre Assistant Directing Program is intended for directors in the early stages of their careers who are eager to gain more experience and training while being mentored by some of Canada’s finest directors.
Up to 10 applicants will be accepted into the program, and will be assigned as the Assistant Director on a production for our “in-the-round” Main Stage season or our “black box” Shumiatcher Sandbox Series. Assistant Directors are required for approximately 4 weeks from when rehearsals begin to the opening of their show. Final matching of Assistant Directors to productions is entirely at the discretion of Globe Theatre, although requests will be considered.
Assistant Directing opportunities are volunteer, and priority is given to Saskatchewan artists. If an applicant is successful and wishes to pursue granting opportunities to support their participation in the program, a letter of support from Globe Theatre will be provided.
