About the Shumiatcher Sandbox Series

The Shumiatcher Sandbox Series at Globe Theatre showcases the work of Artists who continually challenge the boundaries of theatre, dance and multidisciplinary performance.

Every season, artists are invited to propose their own work for presentation on stage. Of the many candidate projects, up to five (5) proposals are chosen that engaged our senses, our passions and our curiosity. Each of these productions is a deeply personal story, told from a uniquely passionate voice and backed by a team of talented theatre professionals.

The Shumiatcher Sandbox Series has been the starting point for many amazing projects. They have gone on to tour (Bertha), evolved into Main Stage productions (The Alice Nocturne), or been a breakthrough for new young artists (The Fusion Project). Globe Theatre's top value is to embrace new ideas and new art practices - that is the heart and soul of the Shumiatcher Sandbox Series.

Come and have your own passion ignited.

Performances for the series are staged primarily in the Templeton Studio Cabaret. See below for specifications.

Globe Theatre acknowledges Drs. Morris & Jacqui Shumiatcher for their generous donation, which enables the bold, imaginative traditions of the series to grow and develop.
